It is not (and never should have been) our war to lose, assuming you are speaking of Iraq.

I disagree that many people in America want to lose the war.

The problem is that so many misunderstand the situation, including the people in charge. Actually, the war is already won: we achieved our objectives of ousting Saddam and installing a new elected government. It is no longer a war, but an occupation, and occupations are beyond extremely difficult, they're untenable when the overwhelming percentage of the native population do not want foreigners there. What would we do if our country was crawling with foreign occupiers? Exactly what the Iraqi people are doing now!

Also, to the extent that the situation has deteriorated to a Civil War, we should not be in the middle of it. Ultimately Iraq must police themselves. It is not something we should attempt to do.

We did not and do not Want to lose the war in Iraq. This administration has taken every step they could to ENSURE that we would lose.

Lack of equipment and proper armor for our Troops

Dismantling 100% of the political and military structures in Iraq

Too few troops to secure the Country

Failure to secure the borders to prevent outside interference or the expected influx of Jihadists an Al Qaeda.

"BRING EM ON!"

Endorsement of torture and the exposures of the abuses of Abu Gahrab prison.

Extending deployments, using Stop-Loss as a reverse draft, allowing Haliburton to provide sub-standard services to our troops, all resulting in demoralizing our own Troops, and causing a still yet to be determined number of physical and psychological problem from extended periods (years) of extreme stress.

The use of depleted uranium weapons in Iraq. The undetonated weapons are relatively safe. The successfully detonated weapons produce a fine powder that contaminates everything in the area. This dust is fine enough to be picked up by the wind and distributed around the globe.

This dust emits Alpha Radiation. This is the most deadly form of radiation when ingested. It is many times more deadly than the better known Gamma Radiation.

DU weapons include 7.62 bullets, mortars, artillery rounds, tank munitions, missiles, bombs, and whatever else the Government has coated with this stuff. This means this deadly dust is all over Iraq. The half-Life of this dust is around Four and a Half BILLION years. The Earth will be swallowed by the Sun before this dust decays to a safe level.

Do a search for Depleted Uranium Weapons and read for yourself.

This administration is either grossly incompetent or creating a safe and secure Iraq was never the idea to begin with.

How do you get that?

My view is that our only legitimate reason for being there was to get rid of Saddam who blatantly supported and harbored terrorists against western interests. We did that early on. After that we needed to give the country a chance to put together a secure government. At some point, however, we just become the new lid on an untenable power structure, if they can't agree. We need to stay as long as they need us for security, but do they seem more secure with us there to you?

Seems to me we've become the red flag to the bull, and are drawing attacks like a lightning rod draws lightning.

We owe them to stay until THEY want us to leave, but I think they should have a referendum on that and have done with it.

This isn't a war and we can never win this fiasco without being able to identify the enemy. Why do people like you seem to be so willing to sacrifice our sons and daughters for a lost cause?

I'm about as far left as one can be, as are pretty much all my friends. I know of no one that wants us to lose the war.

We want to bring all our people home so there are no more casualties, There is no ratonal reason for us to be there. At this point it's all about pride, and pride goeth before the fall.

They're uneducated, and think they're going to save lives, I imagine. It's pity party season. They don't understand that in the long run, the war will save more lives, and grant freedoms to those who have almost NONE. They only see and hear about death of the soldier's, and some Iraqi's, usually from Liberal media, and they've got this screwed up belief that if we just stop fighting them, they'll stop their terror attacks. History shows this to be FALSE, but it doesn't seem to me they like to read very much. It is easier to lay down, and watch tyranny, terrorism, and torture, and do NOTHING, than to get up off your butt and fight, isn't it?
