Very normal flow for your situation right now. I wouldn't worry, it seems the worst is over. Your situation is rare, especially being 3 week postpartum before the hemorrage, and also rare due to your C/S. Hemorrhage usually occurs during the first few hours after birth, and is more common after a vaginal birth due to retained placental fragments that were not expelled. Your blood would keep flowing through the placental pieces as if it were still supplying your baby. Now that the D&C has been done, any retained fragments would have been scraped away, which would allow your body to heal over the placental site. Think about the placenta detaching as if it were a scab over a scraped knee. It does initially bleed, then the discharge changes to a brownish color as the wound area heals, and finally most women get light/clear discharge. This process usually takes a few weeks, so you will be having some form of discharge for awhile yet. JUst monitor your flow for large clots or bleeding which saturates a pad within an hour or two. That would indicate you are still having a problem, and your doctor would need to evaluate you at once. But you sound stable at this point. Just remember to keep taking your prenatal vitamins, and any iron supplements you may have been given while pregnant. If you have no iron supplements, and especially if your vitamin does not contain iron, you need to consider supplementation. Speak with your doctor's office if unsure. The vitamins and iron will assist your body in replacing blood lost, even if you had a transfusion or two. Kiss your baby for me! Hope you're better soon!

I had a huge hemorrage after I gave birth, and also required a D&C. I bled for about 4 weeks, and there were some small clots. It's totally normal. It startes out like a heavy period and then decreases until it's totally gone, which should be by 6 weeks postpartum.

My 3rd child was delivered by c-section. I had bled ALOT!! The dr. put me back in the hospital too.. I was finally released and I was still soaking 2-4 pads an hour... My Dr. didn't panic at all.. I bled for 9 weeks after my c-section.. I'm 6 weeks pregnant and have to have another c-section and NOT looking forward to it.. Good Luck
