The trader will have his own justification, he has to attract customers against competing trade folk - extending all sort of concessions and all - and has to spend on promotional measures additionally in the season... He has to pay the bonus for his employees... and have some additional income for his family in the festive season..

Yes, I do that is the worst feeling, but my friends and family just give each other gift cards, homemade gifts, and one brought present from the store.

Yes I do, but what I feel is worse is when you have paid a small fortune, but notice their eyebrow arch, as if they are thinking either, "What is it?" or "Oh God, I better pretend to like it!" paying full price isnt quite so bad if at least they really like it.
