Your grandfather sounds like a fine philosopher and a gentleman! I wish with all my heart that your dream of peace comes true. People are hurt by circumstances and other people and become afraid to be selfless. It really takes courage to live for others. One soul at a time....

I don't think there will ever be happiness in this world. That's what Heaven's for. But it's still a sad world we live in.
The more people do things that hurt other people the more people become like that. After all it's the people who act this way that cause other's to react this way as well. It's a cycle that is hard to break.
It happens from the littlest things to the biggest things. Someone gets hurt by someone they vow not to let it happen again. And in doing so often repeat some of the same things that happened to them. Doesn't matter if it's a little thing or a big thing it is just this chain of pain.
It seems in this world it is do unto others as someone did to you.

If you're religious and believe that Christ will come
once again and rule the world for a millenia of peace then yes, there will be world peace. There are different people in this world and they consist of the "good" people and the "bad" people. I like to believe i am good, i am no longer selfish, i try to make people happy, i try to make myself happy and i would like to feel the ultimate joy of helping others. On the other hand, there's the power hungry people...the wannabe world leaders, dictators, rulers, etc. they want things to be their way and their way only and with them around there will not be peace. So i don't know if this answered your question, but it's going to be really hard to reach the pinnacle of "world peace."

Humans cannot achieve a world of peace because that would be a perfect world, even if the peace were to last for a short time. And humanity is far from perfection; humans do not deserve to be perfect. We willfully and carelessly wallow in the depths of our endless sins, without the slightest glimmer of consideration. We are arrogant, selfish, greedy, and evil, and thus do not deserve a world of perfect peace, let alone perfection itself. We also cannot achieve such an impossible feat because humans are stupid, inconsiderate creatures that, at times, do not think before acting and do not consider the consequences and possible outcomes of a situation, whether great or small. Let me ask you this: do you honestly believe that humans deserve a world of peace? In my opinion, it is only a dream, a glimmer of hope in the vast void of darkness in which we dwell, an unreachable goal, a possibility just out of our reach that we let slip from our grasp time and time again. If humans weren't so stubborn, selfish, greedy, arrogant, and stupid, we would have achieved a world of peace by now. But as long as we carry these traits and continue to let them influence our actions and thoughts, a world of peace is well out of reach.

The short answer is everyone wants to be King. It's that simple. People are never satisfied with their lot in life. They want what you have. Humans are not that much different then the animals in the wild. Watch some of their behavior and you will see the similarities. We speak in terms of Governments and Corporations but these things are made up of people. People want to rule. They want to dominate other countries and other people. It has been that way since the dawn of time. It will continue to be that way until the end of time.

Do I believe it, yes someday. If we could all just realize that were all people with hearts and souls and we all have feelings. If only we would actually care for each other and help one another, all prejudices aside. Whether the world will ever be that way or not. We all have choices of who we associate ourselves with. And live a life that we'd be proud of.

There will always be conflict and a differing of viewpoints; without this there would be no life. You would die of boredom in a heaven on earth. But there can be peace in the sense that there is no war. Get rid of revenge and see to it that the churches stop teaching love as the "touchy-feely_ sentimentality that they do. Instead teach love as the act of the will (attended sometimes with a tender affection and concern for others) that it really is. You can even love one you are violently angry with by willing yourself to act kindly toward him or her and forgiving.Revenge is not a basic emotion, it is learned. And it is rampant and grows worse with every cycle. I know many will disagree with me but that is to be expected. Please dont attack me physically; instead debate me. You don't win an argument by killing your adversary!

Evil is necessary for human existence. Without the suffering that evil couses we would not know hapiness and without the ability to say no to certain things would make a world of no right or wrong becaouse at the end a person is good if they say no to bad things. We have to experince to learn, evil is just another important lesson.

I'm Christian so deal with whatever I'm gonna say. God promised us a peaceful, painless world later on. But he never said it would be pssoble to live our one temporary life with ease. That's why there's war, and hatred, and everything else. God planned this to test us whether or not we will want a peaceful life and will believe he'll give us one.

Everyone wants their world to be peaceful but that means that you would have to live in it and you may not like it if it weren't the world as you hoped it would be.
