A friend of mine told me that when her children were very young, she didn't have much money for Christmas presents. To fill in the empty space, she set up her creche (nativity scene) under the tree, which actually is most appropriate when you think about it.

If you don't have any gifts, you can always just grab some random things and wrap them up to put under there...I mean, if you are just trying to spiff it up a little, no one needs to know you wrapped up next weeks hamburger helper and stuck it under the tree. Or you can get a pretty tree skirt, they have them at Wal-Mart ranging in price from very little to a little pricey...Trains are also traditional for under the tree...if you want to make the walls around you look a little more festive you could wrap the pictures on the wall, I know it sounds a little silly, but its a some what common practice too, makes it look like you have gifts hanging on the wall, LOL...

then again, if you don't have anything under there at this point, it may not be worth the trouble, Christmas is less then 2 days away, so whatever energy you spend on it now, will just be taken away when its time to take the tree down...If you do decide to head to Wal-Mart or any other retail place at this point, I would recommend a good shot of Jack Daniels, it will help you deal with all the "jolly" folks out there for last minute gifts! Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Take a white or red or solid colored sheet and wrap it around the bottom in a circle pattern, then wrap some boxes that are empty as presents. I have done that for a party at work and saved them for the decorations for the next years. If you have a train set.. you could put it around the tree too.

I wish you had something under your tree that was real. Not even gifts that you bought for others that you have not given yet? That is all that is under mine. Gifts for others.

Well, if you aren't going to put gifts under the tree (you live by yourself or something) then just wrap some extra boxes in wrapping paper. It will look nice.

Raisins are colorful and inexpensive. Sprinkle some snack size raising boxes under the tree and a few big box raisins. Yep, that'll do it.
