No... actually it fits.... Read what the Islamist say about the war and the US... If you don't know who said it before hand, you don't know if it is the Democrats or an Islamic Jihadist.

First of all, I doubt you've made any serious study of Islam, which sees itself as an extension of the Judeo Christian line of prophecy. You as many others do are confusing political policies in certain countries or regions and generalizing them to Islam.

Secondly, it isn't surprising at all that the first Muslim elected to the US House of Representatives comes from a party that supports equal rights for everyone, not just the privileged. He was nominated by a party that believes in tolerance and diversity not intolerance and bigotry.

Finally, if you don't like the protections of the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution, there are plenty of countries you can go to where the oppressive will of the majority is allowed to trample minority rights. Being an American is first class citizenship. If you want to have the "land of the free" everything isn't going to be arranged for you personal convenience every time.

On the one hand you make a great point, but then again, the Democrats are known to undermine this country in support of our enemies, so it makes sense that they would elect a Muslim during war time

I do not think that there is any irony. The people of the Muslim faith have beliefs as wide and varied as Christians, Republicans, and, yes, even Democrats.

In fact, I stand up and applaud the election of Mr. Ellison to the U.S. Congress. It will bring a much needed diversity to the hallowed halls of the U.S. Capitol.

As for the practices of many Muslim countries, I do not know the beliefs of ALL countries, but I know that they are also varied. Your statement leans toward stereotypical. What source do you use as a reference, that states that Muslim countries are the ONLY ones that execute homosexuals? I would be interested to know if there is a source or if it is a "commonly accepted fact", which is never a reliable source, in and of itself.

You have to take into account that there are liberal Muslims and conservative Muslims, just like there are liberal and conservative Christians, as the Qu'ran, like the Bible, can be interpreted in many different ways to serve the interests of different demographics from both ends of the social and political spectrums. So, you're actually about just as likely to find a liberal Muslim as you are a liberal Christian.

It's not ironic. There is no way the Republican party would ever allow a muslim to run under their ticket. The Democrat party is foolish to start this country down the same slippery slope France is experiencing as we speak.

What's even more Ironic is Muslims voted overwhelmingly republican in 2000.

Yes -- but not as ironic as the fact that a senate of christians approved the ongoing war funding it heavily.

Muslims versus extremists who are twisting their religion to suit their purposes. No, it isn't ironic at all. I find it ironic that republicans try to use religion to divide America and garner votes through fear and negativity. Very moral indeed.
