This is a very bizarre conflict, as the Sudanese government opposed any assistance from the UN.

Since the Sudanese government does not defend the Janjaweed outright, but gives them military support, it appears that behind the scenes the Sudanese government has made its decision on which way to go--opposing the non-Baggara people.

All I can say is that it is horrible..but not certain who to support. These conflicts become so politically convoluted. It seems like the good guys seem to suddenly become the bad guys (remember how the US supported Iraq against Iran in the 80's...a lot of good that did us later).

I hate to say this, but these groups are not causing the rest of the world harm yet. There are no terrorist initiatives coming from here. I am afraid if we did support conflict resolution, we would inevitably support future corruption and terrorism.

In other words...keep the conflict away from us, and let them resolve it themselves until they ask for help.

Ask the Sudanese government and the governments of Africa. America has it's own problems with hunger, homelessness, poor education, and abuse. Can we deal with those for a change?

Understand that nobody is coming to help them - at least not America (while Bush is in power)
