i loved final fantasy advent children, i like cowboy bebop, i like trigun (i will watch the shows as well) i dont like anything that has anything to do with "spirits" i do like sword battles, but i like gun battles better

Akira is THE animated movie from Japan. You should also check out the work of Hayao Miyazaki, one of Japan's premiere filmakers. Particularly great films of his include "Princess Mononoke", "Porco Rosso", "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Winds" and "Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro". (Cowboy Bebop is heavily influenced by the Lupin series so you might like that one best.) For your gun loving nature, you might want to look into some of the sci-fi work of Masamune Shirow that has been adapted into anime like "Ghost in the Shell", "Appleseed", and the hillarious police adventures of "Dominion: Tank Police".
I would also suggest "Riding Bean" and "Gunsmith Cats" as excellent anime that use "real guns".

I may be wrong, but I'm under the impression that there isn't a large number of anime movies that doesn't involve spirits/monsters/mythical creatures. Howl's Moving Castle has a lighter dosage of actual "spirit" type content but it has monsters and the like. I keep hearing about a movie called "Ghost in the Shell" also.

PRINCESS MONONOKE!!!!!!!! action, mythology, giant wolf gods, demons and curses, samurai, swords, it's AWESOME i've nearly memorized the whole english version! the Japanese version is awesome too! (though there are spirits such as gods and demons, it's AMAZING!!! 5 star rating you MUST watch it! go rent it and watch it ASAP and you'll thank me!!!)
I also think the FMA movie is good, though you need to see a lot of Full Metal alchemist too fully understand it. I didn't at first because there are specific episodes that you need to watch for all of it to make sense. but if you haven't seen those episodes, it's STILL an awesome movie!!!!!

The best movies were all ready mentioned here. But, you should try Read or Die the Ova. It was showed on adult swim a couple times. And also try the Full Metal Alchemist Movie.

gundam wing:endless waltz-a damn good movie
howls moving castle-no battles but has magic and is a good movie
princess mononoke-not sure of the spelling-has animal spirits but i recommend it to all anime fans.
