You should be a minimum of 18, graduated from high school, have a job that has benefits (health insurance...) and pays enough to pay your rent, utilities, food, vehicle gas, insurance and repair. There are also medical expenses even with insurance. Rental units and utilities also require deposits up front to start service.
Many young adults aren't fully prepared for all that is REALLY involved with getting out on their own. Mommy and Daddy don't pay your expenses any more. If you want to get out on your own, do it in smaller steps if possible. Start researching what rents are in your area. How much deposits are required for unit and utilities. Start putting all of your money aside to save up for the start up fees. (Stop going to movies, to the mall, and out to eat all the time.)
When you're prepared for ALL the adult responsibilities, that's when you should move out on your own... Keep in mind... that soesn't mean mooch off your parents indefinitely... Start preparing now.
Good luck!

Well i left at 17 1/2. But i have a friend who moved in with a friend at 16. I think it depends on the situation etc.. you can always go talk to someone in state/county and see what they say.

I'm pretty sure it's eighteen, since that is the age where you are legally an adult.
My mother's always told me I can stay with her as long as I want, so I'll probably just wait until I get out of college and get a good job. Who can argue with free room and board?

Well if you are under 18, you have to have another guardian. If you are 18, you are free to leave
