For years, some Americans didn't have yearbooks either. My mom has no yearbooks from her school years except for college. I think the problem was the town she grew up in was too small. I don't know who came up with the concept, but it is nice to have a photographic record of the year. Also, it is a big help when putting a reunion together. Maybe a yearbook isn't something that has ever occurred to whomever takes the class photographs. I'm guessing in the early 20th century some photographer had the idea of putting all the classes together in a book, and people thought it was great and bought them.

Because the people who matter you keep in touch with and yanks make such a big thing about all that stuff, wear British and don't have to idealise whats in the past but the future. The yanks are to far behind the us in their culture as our world boom ended along time ago and theirs is set to end soon as most of the world can't stand them. But a lot of young people are taking on American fashions now so it might not be long until schools do have year books but I think that u would have to pay for them just like the school photo. America is just the infant of the rest of the great country's of the world just like Britain is ,they will soon catch up.

The usa certainly does have some buoyant culture esp. in its education what with yearbooks, the prom etc. despite what us brits might think. Perhaps us brits could learn a thing or to or start living in for the future.

There are a few British schools that do have yearbooks, but it's not nearly as popular as in North America. In fact some North American printing companies do the printing an binding for British schools yearbooks.

Hey don't fell bad. If you really want to get a yearbook then contact this number:
Hardy's Publishing : 01594 840400
They create yearbooks. In my secondary school, the school wasn't planning to give us one, so a bunch of us got together and formed a yearbook group (yeah yeah i know, its cheesy and nerdy but we were desperate for a yearbook), so we all organised it ourselves without any help from the teachers except for speehces that they had to write.

No Yearbooks?! And I suppose also no class rings?! Probably don't even do class reunions, either. Tell me there is at least a Prom? What is this world coming to that there are people who don't have these crucial social items? How do you live without them? The mind boggles......
