OK, so I'm 5 days away from my due date. A week ago, I started having Braxton-Hicks that were, well, pretty painful. I went to my doctor less than a week ago and she told me that I was dilated 1 cm and that the baby was extremely low. Today, I've been having the urge to go to the bathroom many times. I wouldn't say it is diarhea, however, I never have the urge to go this many times. Last time I used the bathroom, I felt sharp shooting pains in my back. And now, I've been nauseated very badly. Is any of this signs of labor? I'm getting SO paranoid and I don't remember having any of this when pregnant with my daughter 5 years ago, but I know that every labor can be different.

I think these can be signs of labor. The urge to go is something that can happen before labor...and because the baby is low. Especially since you are dilated and close to your due date, I'd think that it may be about time!! The lower back pains could be many things, but it could also be labor.
I'm sure you know (since you've had a baby before), but get rest as much as possible. Since this can be signs of early labor, RELAX so you will be ready for those hours of laboring. :)
Congratulations and good luck!!!

it sounds like it is labor, if i was you, i would go ahead and go to the hospital, and get checked,,, sometimes a person can be in labor, without the pains,,, so even though this is your second, it may be different then before, it never hurts to be extra cautious, if you are further dilated, they may want/need to give you the medicine to induce full labor,,,,, i never had a pain at all with my daughter,,,, nor did my water break,,, you just dont want to stay in a dilated state too long, i wouldnt think
ps: did your doctor say what to do, what signs , when you were dilated when you saw him/her? i know my daughter was born a week early,, when i went for that weeks checkup,, i was dilated to 2, and told if hard labor didnt start by morn to go to the hospital and check in,, i was given meds to induce hard labor, and had her two hours later!

It's probably a good idea to go to the emergancy room now after calling your doctor. The lower back pain is very common during a second labor. The fact that you're eliminating a lot of waste is typical of labor also. Best of luck!!

Yes, it sounds like pre-labor to me. Loose bowels and burping, aching back and contractions are some signs that labor could start in the next couple hours up until the next week or so. You're getting close but don't race to the hospital just yet!

First, you should call your doctor, that is what they are there for. As for your back pains, I believe that is referred to as 'back labor'. My wife and I have two daughters. The first one gave my wife back labor and the second did not. My wife also had loose stool. Going to the bathroom all the time may be a sign that the baby is simply resting on your bladder.
Please call your doctor, they will be able to help you best. Congrats and good luck.

Both of the times I had my boys, I felt like I was constipated and just couldn't go to the bathroom..........however I was actually in labor. This was the only sign that I had with both of my boys. I also was just uncomfortable to lay on my back. It sounds like you are in labor to me......I had both of my boys very quickly......my first one I was 8 1/2 cm when I arrived at the hospital, and had the baby 58 minutes after arriving at the hospital......the 2nd baby, well I was completely dilated and had him 17 minutes after arriving at the hospital.......when you feel you just need to go to the hospital, go.......listen to your body.

i think you're in early labor. it's pretty obvious since you're already dialated. lol.
but you know as well as i do that this can go on for weeks. so get your bags packed, but don't be in such a hurry.
the baby will come when he's ready, just make sure you're ready for him!
