I asked somebody the same question back in the day when it came out. My mom said "stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice" were references to marriage. I really don't think the song has any specific meaning. I think he's just saying we were young and hasty, and f*&#ed everything up by mistakes we made. Oh and "his girl took a week's worth of valuum and slept" is obviously saying she killed herself, but again I think just because of depression from messing up their lives when they were young. If there's more than that I really don't know.

sure - The Verve Pipe is from Grand Rapids Michigan and is led through Brian Vander Ark. maximum standard music replaced into the Freshman, yet look at Cup of Tea as a acquire. and that they are reuniting!

The lyrics were never quite clear to me, although they hit me right at my core- seriously, this is one of the few songs that, just by listening to it, can make me feeling like crying. Something about that phrase "guilt-stricken sobbing with my head on the floor" . . .

Anyhow, it's clear that he's singing about some tragedy that occured to him and his friends when they were young (freshmen) and how they never saw it coming but should have. Suicide is explicitly made clear.

Hope that helps.

i believe its about young people [teenagers] who "fell in love" then regretted their decisions and how they shouldnt be at fault for their actions because they were really just kids. It talks also about when your younger thinking you know everything...even thought later you look back and see you didnt really know anything.
