Often times people use drugs to hide from their feelings. They have problems coping with life and use meth etc. for a crutch. The other reason is to fit in, they may not want to be the only person in the room not smoking meth. Everyone wants to belong fit in even the intelligent people. Maybe more so because they may feel different. As to the poisons one could say why do people drink smoke cigarettes when they know they are not good.

Believe me, intelligencehas nothing to do with why a person experiments with drugs or even becomes addicted. I have seen this phenomena in two aspects during my life: as a musician and a former session drummer in LosAngeles, mainly in the rock genre, I've seen more God-given talent wasted due to drug and alcohol addiction than you could imagine. And now, as a graduate psychology student, my field of specialty is Addictions, so I'm still around it alot. Basically, whenever someone starts abusing drugs or alcohol they are trying to fill a big void in their lives; they have a spiriutal longing that isn;t being satisfied by the things that fulfill normal people. Also, they are often trying to numb an emotional pain. The drugs and booze do this for AWHILE. That's the bit.ch of treating substance abusers: their method works for a while, often a long while, But eventually what was once a crutch takes over the whole person.

Every person believes that they are in ultimate control of themselves, and have strong enough will power to choose to continue doing Meth after trying it, or stop doing it.

The sad truth is, the lethal and addictive properties in Meth are most times stronger than the hardest of will powers.

Intelligent people make mistakes too.
And sometimes they believe too much in their intelligence, they believe their intelligence will protect them from addiction.
Sadly, many an intelligent human being has fallen victim to Meth addiction.

Some drugs can be "test driven", with no addictive effects.
Others, like Meth are not one of those drugs.
Meth has been around for centuries in some form or another, but the latest method, street Meth has proven to be the deadliest of all.

Every person has their own reasons for trying a drug, whether we find it a legitimate reason or not.
And sometimes, we find that when someone we know as intelligent, with alot going for them, tries and becomes addicted to Meth, we are in shock at the stupidity of the waste of life.
Reasonable people do some unreasonable things sometimes, intelligence is not a preventative.

As a powerful stimulant, methamphetamine, even in small doses, can increase wakefulness and physical activity and decrease appetite. A brief, intense sensation, or rush, is reported by those who smoke or inject methamphetamine. Oral ingestion or snorting produces a long-lasting high instead of a rush, which reportedly can continue for as long as half a day. Both the rush and the high are believed to result from the release of very high levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine into areas of the brain that regulate feelings of pleasure.

Mos Def in my opinion is definitely the main clever rapper I easily have listened to so far. no longer basically are his lyrics properly written, be does not come off smug by utilising attempting a pedantic type rhetoric. He additionally has been featured on many diverse exhibits debating with universal political figures on an analogous time as retaining his very own. he's this way of public discern i comprehend on the inspiration of lyrical content and his character as an entire. Talib Kwali is in all probability my selection 2, yet various the previous rappers mentioned could have valid arguments besides. P.S. Soulja boi is a humiliation to all rap and hip/hop!

I had the world at my finger tips. I graduated high school early, was accepted into a big university, looked good, had great friends... I lost everything because of meth, but thank god I am a recovering addict now, and not just an addict. I started using meth because I thought I was special. I thought I was going to be the ONE person who didn't get addicted. I thought I could outsmart it. Thats how most meth addicts are born. Unfortunately, meth cannot be outsmarted.

Curiosity. Intelligent people seem to be, at least to me, very curious. They may think that they will not become addicted, and even though the drug is impure they will just be taking it once and the poisons will be excreted eventually.

Curiosity could be the motivating factor. When you see others high on it, I guess it looks intriguing and desirable. I've seen the aftermath of long term addicts- it's not a pretty picture! Long, sunken faces, completely disheveled. Addiction has little to do with intelligence- most addicts are above normal intelligence.

think it may be someone trying to escape a depression, or a social fear. but trying it just once may cause an addiction much more difficult to end. have a son who is coming home, in need of help for an addiction. don't think it is realized the danger in it, as most people think they can do it once and no big deal, especially if all of their buddies are doing it, they think it's safe. all kinds of good people do things without thinking or seeing that it will harm them.

In my opinion that person is not intelligent enough. A person who will take cocain, meth, liqour, to alter their state of mind. That person might be intelligent, but he has a very weak mind. You can alter your state of mind by changing the direction of your thoughts, through meditations, mantras.
