I think they should be allowed to run again but people should feel free to point out the incumbents failures in this regard. Let's leave it to the voters to decide whether the candidate failed them.

What if they try to, and they can't pass a bill/law if the people that vote on that won't let them? I.E. if Bill Clinton couldn't pass a bill that would be fulfilling a promise due to a house vetoing it that is predominately republican, wouldn't that be hard to do? If that were the case, no one wouldn't be re-elected.
So either they couldn't make promises, or they would have to make sure that people that vote on their laws would back them. I think that if they try and don't succeed, it's not necessarily their fault.
Good idea in theory, but there are just too many variables.Good question

That isn't going to happen. Politicians have been corrupt and have failed to fulfill their promises to their constituents since George Washington. Did you know that the original Declaration of Independence says that if this document fails to comply with the majority views of the public it should be thrown out and rewritten to the okay of all of the people. But back in the thirties they passed an amendment that says if you try to supplant this document you are a traitor and should be jailed, hung or shot as such.

Great question! The operative word is "should." You think? I don't think they should, but what a can of worms it would be! The person, & all their cohorts weasling around that the person was misquoted, or--tried & somebody/s else was to blame, so--who would judge, & if we were seriously misled, I can only imagine all those faces in committee both sides of the fence, & all the money it would cost. Wonderfully logical, yet not realistic. But that wasn't your question! NO. NOT ALLOWED. BAD DOG! SIT! STAY! IN YOUR DOGHOUSE!
Edit: I have one little problem about it being up to the voters--in this last hoopla, did you SEE how many problems were in the voting machines? Surprise surprise? Also consider, if only from your own experience with "people" how many, many of them are ill informed. What a mess.

That makes sense, but no matter what they do politicians will always have supporters. It's like they (supporters) turn their heads to the stupid stuff, for the sake of simply being Republican (or Democratic), and will insist that the person they voted for can do no wrong. So yes, even though some idiots show incompetence, they will have support for a next term because supporters of that particular party would rather have their own person in office. It will always be "at least he's better than the other guy".

Sure, anyone, liar or not, can run for office. That doesn't mean that I (or anyone) should, or would, vote for them...
The problem is that government is not run by one person. Did they TRY to fulfill their campaign promises? If not then vote them out. If they tried but were unsuccessful, then maybe I'd give them another chance.

Of course they should be allowed to run. This is America. Should they win after not fulfilling their promises? Nope.

Ummm....Look at who got elected President for the second time in a row. He said he was going to bring compassionate conservatism to American politics, but have you seen anything to come out of Washington these days that you would call compassionate?
