Just as in the name... the science of politics. I majored in poli sci and found it fascinating and enjoyable. Courses would cover issues from political philosophy to polling to regional and global relations.
If you are interested in government work, poli sci can be helpful.

It's basically about the study of power (i.e. the nature, evolution and organization of political systems and political philosophies). I think it's alot like History, except you are looking at History and current events from a political standpoint. The courses usually range from European Politics and Government, American Politics and Government, to Chinese and African Politics and Government. Certain departments may even offer courses on National Security, Cold War Policy, Political Economy, things like that. If you are interested in International Relations, the government, or just love the study of why certain groups obtain power, this major is for you. It also requires a good deal of writing, reading, public speaking/debate skills, logic, and statistics. It's pretty cool.
