Legally, you have to be 17 or 18, depending on your state (Texas is 17).
However, I have never once been carded ANYWHERE for buying a rated R DVD.

"Unrated" movies tend to be uncut, unedited, etc. Therefore, they're probably worse than the original Rated R movie.
It really depends who sells you the movie. If you get someone who doesn't really follow the rules, you may be able to purchase it. If you get the manager, chances are you'll have no luck. By law, you have to be 17 to purchase/view a Rated R movie.

Depends on where you go to buy it. If you buy it at a place like Best Buy they might card you, where as if you went to the local video store, you'd probably have more luck there because you're more likely to have a college-age stoner type who doesn't give a **** there than you will at Best Buy, Wal Mart, or some other chain like that.

I work at Wal-Mart and depending on the content, you either have to be 17 or 18.

Yeah, I guess you can. I'm fifteen and last year, I bought Closer (rated R DVD) without any questions asked or ID check.
