You've heard of horses and buggies? Might be less expensive.

It won't ALL run out. We cannot get all of it out of the ground.
Most of it will run out in about 60 years.
Before that happens, we will...

Let's go back first.

In the 1900's people started building and using machines for all kinds of things. That was called the Industrial Revolution.

Then came the next revolution; communication. TV, radio, newspapers, telephone; then computers, internet, satelite, etc.

The NEXT revolution will be energy. We will convert everything that uses oil or coal, into being powered by hydrogen. It is not happening NOW because we have oil still. When the oil starts to run out, the oil companies will spend billions to change over to hydrogen power and build, sell, and repair all those machines.
And they will still make a lot of money.
No oil company is going to sit and wait for the oil to run out without a plan B on the books. Hydrogen is plan B.

First and foremost, I will be thankful to God for keeping me alive that long; I only hope that HE keeps me in good health and with all the vigor.

Anyway, when all the oil runs out, what will I do, right? I will just have to switch my car to the ethanol fuel if the electric battery needed recharge while I am on the road. Otherwise, my car will be automatically charged as soon as I park in my garage, or deposit coins in the meter on the curbside of the street.

I will miss the gasoline vapor though!

I don't think oil will run out suddenly. But it will get more and more expensive. Global warming will promote international tensions that may disrupt oil supplies causing more price increases. The sprawl model of development will become less economically viable. Hopefully someday we will figure out a practical way to use nuclear power that does not produce radioactive waste. Or else very efficient solar cells. They already are advancing battery technology for electric vehicles.

How soon. By conservative estimates just in this country and by the stock market there is at least a trillion barrels of oil in the shale in the Rocky Mountains and the technology today(which investors are jumping on) allows one barrel to be processed cheaper than pumping one barrel of oil. And considering since 1926 the price of pumping one barrel of oil hasn't changed this would make it cheaper than 11 cents a barrel.

It's not going to run out for AT LEAST 40 years...People have been saying we've got 20 years of oil left since the 1930's. I've got some pretty reliable sources that say we've still got lots of oil...When we run out, electricity and hydrogen will prevail. I prefer internal combustion hydrogen engines.

That is a rumor. There is plenty of oil in the world.....the oil companies say that so they can drive the prices up. There are large oilfields in Alaska, Texas, Louisiana and other southern states that aren't even tapped yet. Iraq is literally floating on oil, as well as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Venezuela, and many other countries.

Where did you get the idea that we are running our of oil? There is plenty of oil. The big oil companies bought the politicians and had they prevent anyone else from getting it out of the ground. Do you think these crooks are really so environmentally sensitive?

Throw these bums out, and let the free enterprise system get us cheap oil.

We either start digging in Alaska, and up yours to the environmentalists groups (since there is loads of room for the caraboo, even with a pipe-line), or we go to war with Mexico, and take their oil. They wouldn't know how to dig, and pump for it, if it weren't for us showing them how anyway. We can take over Cuba, and give it to them as a good will gift, after we win the war. We might even get less illegals crossing our border, too. MMMMMM, what a GOOD idea!

If there was no oil and no electric cars I think you'd see a hell of a lot more bikes around!
And just think the environment would benefit and the obese epidemic would come to an end when people would actually have to get off their *** and walk to work! (Should be a lot of late employees!)
As for me, I'll be riding my bike.

There is easily another 75 years to go. So that is not a problem as long as alternate power sources are being developed.

What worries me is all those holes in the ground that are left after the drills are finished.
