it seems like i have asked this samequestion 100 times but i still arent sure!

I have 4 guppies, 1 snail, 1 small aquaic frog, 2 marble shrimp, 5 glolight tetras(soon to be 7). I have room for about 6-8ish inches of grown fish in my tank! i was thinking about 1 or 2 pearl gouramis but i went to Petco the other to day to get a filter and to look @ teh critters and i didnt see any pearl gouramis!

any suggestions for fish about that same size that would be compatible and colorful?

thnx and Happy holidays!!!

What size is your tank? Tell me that then I can give you some good suggestions.

Please don't use the inch per gallon rule, it is garbage. There are many many things that the inch per gallon rule does not cover, like if you have schooling fish or non schooling fish, wide body fish or narrow body fish, aggressive fish or peaceful fish. So many things.

According to the inch per gallon rule, it is just fine to put an Oscar and 5 neon tetras in a 20 gallon tank. I hope I don't need to explain why that is a bad thing.

That would make 15 fish with the 2 glolites you plan to get. How big is your tank? That would make it easier to answer your question as well. If you are going to get gourami's, my suggestion would be dwarf gourami's. Most other gourami's would be a little too agressive for your guppies. another suggestion to go with the guppies, would be other livebearers, like Platies and swords. But remeber that 1 inch of fish per gallon only applies to what the adult size of the fish would be and doesn't apply with some species.

how big is your tank?

you might want to try Dwarf Gouramis instead of full size ones. Even though pearl ones aren't supposed to be aggresive, if you have a tank of all really small fish and put some big ones in it, you might have a problem. Dwarf ones only get 2 inches and they are all different colors

What Ph. temperature and hardness levels do you maintain? As one answer says the bigger Gouramis might be a bit aggressive but the dwarfs should be O.K.
