Don't make the assumption that, since they're blind, they're going to be bored when alone. Once they've learned to live with their blindness, they lead just as busy a life as anyone else. They have jobs, friends, personal interests. They live in houses, apartments, whatever, all by themselves, and do quite well. It's the one who refuses to accept their situation who sits home feeling sorry for himself/herself, never trying to get their life going again, who is more likely to be bored. If you see a blind person don't make the mistake of pitying them. And, as a helpful hint, if you see one in a "situation"--about to cross the street, waiting for an elevator, waiting for a bus where there are several different numbered buses arriving, don't just reach out and "help" them: they don't like that. Offer to assist first. Of course, if you see one walking along, heading for an obstacle they may not know is there, then it is definitely a kindness to let them know.

Listen to music or audio books, read braile, listen to the TV. I have a friend who was a teenager in Germany during WWII. She's not blind, but they often had blackouts, so she knows how to sew and knit in complete darkness. I'm sure there are many blind people who have hobbies like that.

Great question.

Some read (braile), listen to the radio, go to the pool, and etc. Blindness is not a handicap to a lot of people so don't think that they are so limited.

They can read (yes...they have special books with dots they can feel...and actually read) ...listen to music, listen to tv....make clay pots on a wheel, go for walks, play with a pet, call up a friend, cook...(oh it can be done!), play music, tape record themselves telling a story...go swimming

Just because you can't see...doesn't mean you can't do anything...you just have to learn another way to do it.
