Hey everyone! I just recently finished my first semester as Junior 1. Unfortunately, I didn't do really well on 2 of my classes so I am already out of the program. Right at this moment, I have a lot of stuff going on in my head on whether or not I should go and try the ADN or move on and change my major. When it comes to going back to community college and try to get AD in nursing, I am worried and scared that I will have the same performance. I know I will see the same questions and it will require the same critical skills. I really had a tough time with the test. I have studied my butt off yet it wasn't enough. It is very discouraging but I try to be as positive as I can be. I took the risk of staying in class even though I know I am having a hard time and in the back of my head, there's a chance that I can fail. I was there to learn and I am glad that I didn't drop my class. But, of course, nursing school doesnt see that. Should I go and take nursing again or move on? Serious reply

Okay, first of all, I want to say I am very sorry. I feel for you. Secondly, wtf to most of the comments before mine. Nursing does provide excellent pay but that wasn't the question. So, I will address the question now. I am currently an ADN student. I spent the past 4 years working on a BS in education which I loved but realized it did not provide the security I needed. I moved to nursing. I finished my first semester as an ADN student with a 3.0 for the semester. This is hard to admit because I am a 4.0 student in a degree that is hard in my school. The whole NCLEX prep and critical "think like a nurse" stuff is hard. However, I STRONGLY recommend you go into the ADN program. First, buy many NCLEX prep books. Then, I would invest some money into a special agency or group of people that can look into how you test. It's all in the way you think through the answers. If someone can help you to think like a nurse, I say seek them out. Most of the problems with nursing students are how they test and test anxiety. Seriously, I know it is disheartening to feel like such a failure, but I think you can do it especially since you have had experience in the BSN already. I say go for it. It is only 4 semesters. I am totally feeling for you. I know the fear of failing that hangs over my head daily.

Not an uncommon occurrence. If you went into the nursing program because you were looking for something to do for a living, I'd look elsewhere; but if you went in really wanting to be a nurse, I wouldn't be discouraged a bit. Some of the core is by necessity rote learning, but a lot is amenable to learning through a different approach, and now you'll have a good idea of things that don't work for you, so you'll have a better idea of what will work.

Depends on what you want to do. If being a nurse is all you want then try again, try at a community college. If you don't think you can do it, then find something else. There are other great jobs out there other then nursing, even though a lot of people act like its the only major out there these days.

If you can find a small college which has a nursing degree program mainly for the local hospital as ours does and sign with the hospital for two years will you not only get financial help but you can hardly fail.
Here on the average the only ones who fail are the ones who do not sign with the local hospital. It's sad a but a fact. you mighjt check on that.
One thing you can do is to get your core subjects online before heading into the program . This helps as it gives you more time to constrate on you major subjects.

they do no longer basically permit anybody into the colleges they have standards and a brilliant form of scholars think of they are in a position to easily breeze via whilst it somewhat is surely very confusing . Then once you're complete with each and all the instructions the State boards (NCLEX) is amazingly no longer uncomplicated. you're able to be noticeably stimulated to grow to be a nurse in recent times. I graduated 2 years in the past and nil.5 my type have been kicked out or dropped out because of the fact its so no longer uncomplicated. you could virtually haven't any existence whilst your at school. some human beings are not in a position to sacrifice that. you have Math skills, scientific maximum are 12 hours and alot of my classmates have been given divorces, lost their teenagers, had frightened injury downs because of the fact it somewhat is severe tension. they have a time-honored and are unlikely to settle for any below that. We have been required to have an A everyday,a brilliant form of Pre-necessities, physicals, history exams, immunizations and wellbeing monitors some human beings fell via the way area from those.

There any other program that you would like to pursue instead of nursing? If there is why don't you give it is a shot? It sounds like you are not focus at all and that is a major problem. You at not alone on this situation. There is going to be something that's always going to bump you off your course that is why you have to stay focus. Don't give up on education its the way to a better future. Good Luck.

the only way to make money in nursing and not lose your sanity is by havinga MASTERS and working behind a desk doing paperwork or teaching in a classroom. Otherwise youre going to find low pay, buttheads for bosses and coworkers who will try and stab you in the back, metaphorically speaking.

The REAL money is in administrative desk work. Get a masters.
