Only you or they know -- but whatever it is (long-standing grievances, buried hurts, minor irritations that are building into major problems because you or they aren't saying something that needs to be said), you'll feel a lot lighter once you stop carrying it around with you everywhere you go. Let it go. You'll be happier in the long run, and this attitude will give you more energy for the things that truly matter to you. Your happy disposition will lead you to an opportunity to increase goodwill throughout your life..

Maybe because they have always gotten the worst in people.....maybe they never had anyone positive in their lives, or did but it was after a really bad time.....Thing for this person to do is to get a new perspective.......Have this person do something really good for someone who is really bad off....blanket to the homeless, volunteering at the soup kitchen, ringing a bell in front of a store, something to give to others. This will make him see something positive in himself, and show him there is other good people out there too. Now you may have to do this in an under handed way, but somehow show him that there is horror in this world and that there are good people fighting it everyday......

For some people, unfortunately, seeing shortcomings in others is the only way that makes them feel okay with themselves. This may stem from low self-esteem. One way to deal with low self-esteem is to seek the help of a therapist.

Cynical person expect the worst in people. This is the law of subconsiousness, What you expect, what you get.( It is from within to without) When you expect that people are good, then they will respond to you in goodness.

people always seem to have a tendency to be pessimistic, and so they automatically assume that people are bad, even if they're not. and also, from personal experience, most people ARE pretty bad...... =P

I think it is a survival instinct to make you cautious about who to trust, especially if you have ever been a victim of someone else's actions.
