vortex high performance muffler,k&n air filter,and airaid throttle body spacer.I just bought a quadzilla stealth 2 tuner,I have all the high performance transmission settings done,the only thing that is over my head is the axel ratio, stock it's 237 I've tryed it on 373 and 410 but I don't know the right one it still hauls *** but I want to get it on a dead stop and floor it and smoke the **** out of the tires,I just don't want to put the wrong setting and do serious damage to my new truck! If there is someone who can give me some pointers and help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Jason

Where did you get that 237 ratio for your rear end? That doesn't sound right. You also have to figure the height of your tires into this equation. These settings are based on your stock rearend, stock tires, and the adjustment is mainly to correct your speedometer, and shift points. You want to set this to which ever gear you have in the rearend, and fine tune if you have taller tires. The smaller the tires are in height, the better you will be able to smoke the tires. I would think the stock rearend would be somewhere around a 3.40:1 ratio or a 2.73:1 as these are the most common stock truck rearends. If you look at the tube on the rearend on the drivers side, you will find some numbers and letters. These will tell you what the rearend was originally, unless someone has changed the insides. If you could change to a 3.73:1 ratio with the set-up you have, you would notice the tires would in fact boil, if you set the computer to the 373 setting. A 4.10:1 would make it do wheel stands dude!!! H@ll yeah!!! You would get sh@t fuel mileage, but it would go. The 373 with the transmission thats in it would be perfect for the street, and a 410 or 411 would be too low geared as it would be winding 4,000 RPM's at 55 MPH, so I would think long and hard about that as a street gear. I have a truck I drag race, and I run a 373 with an Eaton posi in it, with a 700R-4 with a lock up converter. I own a transmission shop, so I did some stuff to the transmission so it would take it, and so far I have beat the crap out of the truck, and it has stayed together. I run in the high 6's and low 7's on the 1/8 mile track with it. Yeah... that ain't bad for an old "74" chevy with a small block in it. I also have an "80" Malibu that will out run the word of God, but that is another story. Anyway, I am glad I could help you man. Good Luck!!!

The axle ratio settings in your tuner are for you to tell the computer what axle ratio you already have (or switch to). Changing the tuner's axle ratio alone will only change your speedo & odometer readings. You're not actually changing the axle ratio on the truck by doing this. Changing the actual truck's real axle ratio involves taking the differential apart and replacing the gears.
The thing that's keeping you from smoking the tires is GM's abuse managment mode in the powertrain software. GM sees stomping on the gas from a dead stop as "abuse" and the PCM retards the timing as much as 40 degrees to keep you from stressing the transmission. Assenine I know. My old 283 impala feels stronger off the line than my stock 06 Silverado.
What you need for tire smoking is a high performance tune from Westers, Nelson, Wait4Me, or somebody like that. Type any of those into a search engine (westers tune, nelson tune, w4me tune, etc.) to read about them. They tune out the torque management and abuse mode systems that make our new trucks such dogs off the line.
They may be able to sell you the program to download it to your truck via the programmer you have, I just don't know enough about what you have to be sure. W4ME uses the SCT XCalibrator Flash Tool. Check out the links below to learn more & contact them for specific issues you want to correct on your truck (doggy acceleration off the line, soft shifting, etc.)

What you are trying to do is to tell the PCM what gears are in the truck. It won't change the gears. It is for information only, so that the PCM can make correct adjustments to the powertrain management.
This will tell the PCM that the gear ratio is (273:1)? and tire size is (???X??)? so that the shift points are at optimum and that the speedometer reads correctly.

i own a shop,and a 373 is a good all around gear ratio for that one,,it does good for pulling and power,i run one in my s-10 ,and it does real good ,i think it would help yours also,good luck hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.
