If the shrimp is thoroughly cooked, and if you cut each shrimp up in pieces, then you shouldn't have a problem. I'm from Louisiana, the only problem we've had at home is just people who are allergic to shellfish. Best of luck to you and Merry Christmas.

I work in a seafood restaurant, and people order their little kids the popcorn shrimp off the children's menu all the time. They have no tails on them, and the parents cut them up into tiny pieces. If your child is allergic to seafood, you're going to have to find out one day. If you still uncomfortable with the idea, check with your pediatrician.

its not a matter of is it safe for their system, its a matter of the food being the perfect size for a 2 year old to CHOKE ON.
what, do you feed your 2 year old HOT DOGS also? IT TOO is the perfect size chunk to CHOKE ON.
by the way, children ought NOT be exposed to mercury, and anything in the sea has probably been eating off of "food" near sunken ships. Wanna raise a retard? Keep feeding him fish products.

you know I was thinking the same thing with my 3 year old. I am more worries about the allergic reaction to shell fish than mercury. I don't feel like spending the night at the ER for an allergic reaction to it. so theres no rush on feeding your kid shell fish. just wait till you feel confidant to give it to him or her.

No, they will choke and could have an allergic reaction, which might be devasting for someone their age, maybe even fatal. The odds are they probably don't, but why risk it?
