There's a sixth sense that some people have called Synesthesia. In interviews with people who have this sense, they say they'd rather give up another sense (like sight or hearing) than give up their Snyesthesia sense. It's basically a combination of senses, so you might taste something and it would taste "purple". For those of us that don't have this sense, I ask you, what is it like to be without this sense? It's impossible to answer because you don't know what it should be or feel like. So, at least those with total blindness or total deafness who were born that way, there's no way to answer your question.

strange area of compitition-first as a hearing impaired person, i tried to get the countys chair, for the leadership of the handicapped in our area, and was pulverized by the illegal steering commitee thrown up to insure that a blind person was used, why? i have heard that the reason was to ensure more funding was going to come through if they used a blind person instead of a hearing impaired person, this was money that was ear marked and was later put back in the general fund cause nothing ever gets to the people who need it, i've never seen any or heard of any money or have i beena part of a program, and i was the leader of a thousand man strong fight for twenty five years of battling the power house of anaconda corporation for wages and union benifits, i have a half a century of expirence to be shuffled under for wet backs, this really sucked cause there was nothing going on when we were trying to fabricate they contents of starting a disabilities program, but before we even got officers elected the behavioral sciences came in from the university and was power heavy and took the election(i was elected pres. at the vote, then there was an announcement that the steering committee was going to over ride this for the reasons that they didnt get the person they wanted elected) they said that to me and was very shiity about it, because they only wanted a reprosentitive thing and didn't want an organization of issues to deal with and wanted me out,) and privately announced that the new president was blind as a bat and couldn't even find the room we were in to babble about nothing.i was so mad(i never came back) that made big brother very happy too, that we have nothing because this guy sees nothing, and there for has never known nothing either, that it was all nothing, what a waste.. we wanted allot of issues and platforms addressed and the whole thing got pegion holed and in the pockets of the local @ss holes in civil government, there is little for the people who are doing jobs other americans don't want when the borders came down and were all pissed *** hell to get screwed by mexicans of are not citizens for our country, being handicapped sucks, what do we see and hear big brother doesn't even have the stage to take care of himself when the money changers want pay backs and we are not even on the same planet as the rest of u and i'm the son of a 2 star general and i have been deaf since he went beserk and i was 4 years old, they say that i will have a normal life but i'm not sure that being here with u people is normal-i had to become a paraprofessional-psycholinquistics-methodologist just to say i think i think, and there are little that the economic world has plans for the impaired other than drag a little high self esteem in our face as they go by, and they do come back to either abused us or give us guilt trips for the pleasure of their blissful enchantment in ignorance, merry christmas to the proud, the many, the machine "a sporadically annoying delegate from hell

a great many of the blind are not totally blind . they are what is called legally blind that is to say they have sight that is less then a certain amount but not total loss of all vision. the vision does have to be very poor a person that is legally blind might be able to view letters on the computer screen that are inlarged to almost the size of the screen for just one letter. others will see light shades of light and so on but its not clear enough that a person could say they are able to see as we do .
as far as the hearing goes it is much the same as with the blindness some need hearing aids that are set at maxium to just make out some sounds not enough for a normal way of life but still some hearing. the ones that are totally deaf do not hear as we do but they are able to hear in a manner that we do but we mostly disregard. that is the vibration of sound in other parts of the body . we would notice this at a loud rock concert the vibs going into us and we are feeling them in our bodies. other then that we dont really pay any attention to them . a deaf person does pay attention to the vibrations more then we do and although they will not hear the sound like we do they will be able in some cases to feel a sound and learn over a life time what different important loud sounds feel like, this is one way a deaf person is able to dance and keep in rthym with the music they can do this at a very loud dance place .
so a deaf person although not able to hear the same as us is often able to hear in a different way then us but sadly its not similar enough for the person to adapt to using that as a way of understanding what we are saying.
i am sure that if God speaks to them one of them or all of them they will hear. even in a room full of people who have fine hearing the voice of god may not be heard by one of them but it might be heard by one of the deaf or all of the deaf which ever god would so choose to let hear his voice.
i tell you that so that i hope you and all others understand that the perfect judge God does not dismiss them as useless and as such nor should we.
we each have a purpose most of us i think go about not knowing if we are doing it but even the deaf and the blind are used and loved by GOD

I am a person, not a blind, but I'll give you a shot. The correct reference when speaking about 'blind people' and 'deaf people.' are "People with blindness," and "People with deafness," or "People who are hard of hearing."
It makes the person a person, and the object a disability. We "blind people" do not like being in the same category as a table, book, computer, piece of poo, etc. Just because we happen to have something that is different about us does NOT make you better than us. OK? Do we have some understanding now? So many people speak like this, yet do not understand what they are saying affects AND effects other human beings.
Now, to answer your question. Much of the time people who are blind do not see 'black.' But what they may or may not see is highly dependent upon the individual and their experiences that brought about their blindness. It is a highly individualized question, with no real good answer with the exception of the person who is blind's answer.
I have had two types of blindness during my lifetime. The first is legally termed, "Total Blindness." This is what most people think of when they think of 'blind.' The second type of blindness is legally termed, "Legally Blind." This is when a person can see no clearer than 20/800 in the best corrected eye, OR have zero vision in one eye and a peripheral field of less than 20 degrees.
A peripheral field of less than 20 degrees is similar to cutting a toilet paper roll into three mostly equal parts and holding one of those parts to one eye while covering the other.
I had total blindness for just less than one year. During that time I saw red with drifting, black and anything but straight, lines. The lines were very fluid and reshaped themselves with every movement of my eye. I could at times tell you if a light was on or off in a room, depending on how bright the light and how close was my proximity to it. I had total blindness during my senior year of high school. Everyone who I called a friend left me and no longer wished to hang around with me just because I became "different." I cried a lot. But I also found a whole new way of seeing things.
Currently, I have legal blindness. My disability happens to be the no vision in one eye, less than 20 degrees peripheral in the other. People stare a lot. Some days I don't mind it at all, other days it really bugs me, BUT I have never allowed my blindness to hold me back.
I have four Master's degrees. One in psychology and the other three in education and special education. While I had total blindness I attended college at Birmingham U. in Birmingham, England. I am engaged and have been for about twelve years now, and it is I who does not wish to marry. But my finac has stuck by my side through thick and thin, and we really do love each other.
There is only one employment position never held by a person with blindness. Airplane Pilot. There is a history of people with blindness in EVERY other position of employment that you may think. Cab driver is a YES. Think about that next time you hop into a cab. Myself? Yes, I am able to drive. My distance vision is 20/25, it is my peripheral that sucks.
At least I can laugh at myself and I have a good sense of humor.
I do hope I have helped some...and I'm around.

Go in your bathroom at 2:00 in the morning. That's what a blind and deaf person would see/hear.

blind people can feel braille. I am not quite sure what deaf people hear but they look at sign language. This question is really strange (no offense)

DEAF PEOPLE DO NOT HEAR ANYTHING, HOWEVER YOU WILL SEE THEM AT DANCES AND OUT TO THE DANCE CLUBS. THEY FEEL THE VIBRATIONS OF THE BASS AND THEREFORE CAN DANCE AS THE RHYTHM IS IN THE BASS.
THE BLIND CAN SEE NOTHING THAT IS WHY THEY ARE CALLED BLIND. THEY HAVE TRAINED TO USE THEIR SENSES OF FEEL AND HEARING AND TOUCH TO ALLOW THEM TO FORM THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE FEELING. I HAVE A BLIND FRIEND WHO WENT TO THE CIRCUS AT 45 YEARS OLD AND CAME HOME SO EXCITED, BECAUSE THE ELEPHANT HANDLER HAD LET HER SEE ONE OF THE ELEPHANTS. SHE WAS AMAZED AT HOW THING AND ROUGH THE SKIN WAS AND HOW THE HAIR WAS SO COARSE

if you want to see what blind people see then cover your eyes, if you want to hear what deaf people hear cover your ears. blind people are blind wich means they cannot see, deaf people can't hear because they're deaf.
