Since you have watched the Supervolcano movie you have a pretty good idea of what will happen. They did an excellent job of worst case scenario building. They have a good timeline for the previous caldera collapses (Yellowstone would not actually explode. Rather it would sink, making it look like an explosion).
However, the Yellowstone caldera (the hot spot) is actually moving under the Rockies. This means that the volcano would have to work it's way through several thousand more feet of the earths crust before it could "explode". So, it will probably be several hundred thousand years before the caldera would be a danger again. Then again it could happen tomorrow. The earth is very unpredictable.

Yellowstone could explode some day. The most likely scenario is a huge venting of gas and magma some of which would erupt in an explosive manner, and a great deal of which would flow like Mauna Loa on steroids. The surface would subside into the depleted magma chamber, resulting in a big bowl shaped depression which would probably form a giant lake. It has happened before, in the North American southwest.

because you have watched the Supervolcano action picture you have a especially sturdy thought of what's going to take place. They did an remarkable interest of worst case state of affairs development. they have a sturdy timeline for the previous caldera collapses (Yellowstone would not surely explode. extremely it may sink, making it look like an explosion). even nonetheless, the Yellowstone caldera (the warm spot) is surely shifting below the Rockies. this suggests that the volcano could could artwork that is way via a number of thousand greater ft of the earths crust till now it may "explode". So, that is going to in all threat be a number of hundred thousand years till now the caldera could be a threat returned. nonetheless it may take place the following day. The earth is amazingly unpredictable.

Yellowstone National Park is known for its many hot springs and geysers. These are formed because of a "hot spot" deep within the earth's crust, much like the "hot spot" that formed the Hawaiian Islands.
It is entirely possible that a huge volcano could explode in Yellowstone some day, although there is no evidence that it is likely to happen soon.
There was once a movie about this also.
The Yellowstone Volcano Observatory (YVO) was created as a partnership among the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Yellowstone National Park, and University of Utah to strengthen the long-term monitoring of volcanic and earthquake unrest in the Yellowstone National Park region. Yellowstone is the site of the largest and most diverse collection of natural thermal features in the world and the first National Park. YVO is one of the five USGS Volcano Observatories that monitor volcanoes within the United States for science and public safety.
Volcano and earthquake monitoring plan for the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, 2006-2015 now available
11/06/2006
Yellowstone Volcano Observatory (YVO) has developed a monitoring plan for the period 2006-2015 to increase our ability to provide timely information during seismic, volcanic, and hydrothermal crises and to anticipate hazardous events before they occur. Upgrades to the monitoring network will provide high-quality data for scientific study and interpretation of one of the largest active volcanic systems in the world. Equipment additions and upgrades will bring the seismic network up to modern standards and add stations in areas that lack adequate station coverage. Borehole strainmeters and tiltmeters will be added to measure crustal movements and stream gages and gas-measuring instruments will allow YVO to compare geophysical phenomena, such as earthquakes and ground motions, to hydrothermal events, such as anomalous water and gas discharge. Please see the Volcano and Earthquake Monitoring Plan for the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, 2006-2015 for more information.

yes, and no yes there is a super volcano below Yellowstone, but the build up of magma is only about 10% so there really is no way it is going to blow any time soon. Now if your still alive in about 150,000 years you might see it blow but not likely. Don't sweet it it not going to blow, And yes I saw the same special you did but i have done a little more research in to this subject and found that we are in no danger any time soon. I hope this helps.

Many researchers agree tha Yellowstone will erupt one day. It is called a supervolcano. It is just a matter of time.

Yes it is Yellowstone, and yes one day it will erupt, but we don't know how big this eruption will be so we can't say how bad it will be. The worst case scenario is that it will start a nuclear winter and destroy most of the United States. The nuclear winter can begin our next ice age.

best case scenario: it dont happen
worst case scenario: it blows the earth off it's orbit around the sun and earth crashes into mars
possible most likely scenario: in 200,000 years, yellowstone blows it's cap. the bears get angry so they go invade Washington DC as their new home. Yellowstone collapses, we lose a national park, the northwestern hemisphere is covered in ash, temperatures drop like 50 degrees, Australia looks like the best place to go, if we havnt colonized the moon or marz by then.

I think that is a bit far fetched, I don't think there has been a volcano in history near that big. if it did though I don't think it would destroy the US, it would just destroy valuable resources and wildlife.
