that depends on many factors. they do make good pets if you get them when they are very young so they can be trained. ive heard they can even be litter box trained. they dont need much space however beware because they will get into everything in your house. if you live in an apartment i would say no to a coon. they dont get really big most not much bigger than a cat however i have seen them as big get to about a foot high and maybe 10 pounds. although they are not much different than a cat it is illegal in most places to have a raccoon as a pet due to the fact that they are classified as a wild animal.

Racoons are wild animals, and while there are a few that have been domesticated and kept as indoor pets, I don't think it's a wise idea. They're the kind of animal that gets easily bored so will find ways to entertain itself (ie, destructive.)

Sorry, but it doesn't seem like they do. They're wild animals, not domestic, even if you get them from a breeder.
They need a room of their own. In the wild, they range around a lot, so they want lots of space. They're also climbers.
Size varies, but raccoons are generally larger than housecats but smaller than mid-sized dogs. They are extremely dense and fat, however.
If you still decide to get one, make sure you get a permit if it's required in your area, and talk to a vet about how you should care for the raccoon.

Raccoons are wild and they belong in the wild. If you rescuing one or want to become a foster parent to one then I am not sure about how much space and how big they get, but if you just want one because you do you should really reconsider, once again raccoons are WILD animals not pets.

Yes! Go get one today! And whenever you have important questions on Wild amimals, go to Yahoo! Answers....Because you are dealing with the most informed people in the world. Oh and get an adult raccoon! they rock!......I had three full grown cats that were destroyed by a raccoon years ago. The raccoon killed them and all their kittens. And did not go down without a fight with my Boxer, who had to get his mouth stitched up with 27 stitches. Yeah the raccoon is a great pet...just like on t.v.!

You should be very careful keeping a wild animal for a pet. It could carry rabies. 'coons when they are full grown are very nasty and mean animals. They will snarl and bite.I had a friend when I was a kid that had one. He kept it outside in a cage. It had a funny odor. He finally turmed it free because it was just to mean to handle. Most states also have laws about keeping a wild animal for a pet. Please be careful.

Why would you want a racoon? Where would you get one that wouldn't want to kill you and tear you apart? I would think you would have to keep it in a cage and NEVER touch it or it will scratch you!
