Don't know what happened the to the icon(bullet looking things), show speed of computer. Need step by step instructions, please.

If the program that does this is in your computer, you have to right clk the .exe file and choose "Send To Desktop as a Shortcut"
If it is a web service, you will need the URL and make it a link to clk on to take you there.
Really, you need to provide more info. for a complete answer --- like the name of the speed check or something about it. You can search for "speed tests" and get some free ones.

Are you taking about the 2-computer icon that shows on-line connection speed? The one I had in Windows 98 when I connected via modem does not exist for my DSL connection.

Try using task mgr by pressing ctrl, alt, and delete all at the same time.
