I was at school and fell on the metal bleachers right on my shin. It hurt for a few days and went away but only for about a day. It has hurt for the past three weeks and i AM walking on but it hurts increasingly worse every day. I havent gone to the doctor because i absolutley HATE my doctor. It is still bruised and swollen and there is a VERY hard bump in the middle of the swelling. Can you give me some what of an idea of what i may have done to it?

I did a similar thing many years ago. It ended up that I had a fracture that I kept making worse by not getting it attended to. It caused me to lose a whole year on the basketball team and track meets. I was the same way with going to the doctor. Get over it and get to the doctor, before you really do some damage. It's best to go ahead and go and the doc tell you it's just a really bad bruise, than to keep damaging (maybe permanently) the area. Good luck. Nana

I did something similar once. I also had the big goose-egg on my shin. I believe I bruised the shinbone (tibia). It took a few weeks to heal. Ice it regularly for 10-15 minutes at a time to take the inflammation down. If this doesn't help in a day or two then you'll have to call the doctor. I hope you feel better.

It may be just a bump but at the same time you may have a green splint fracture which doesn't disable like a regular fracture. If you hate your doctor that much then find another. Meanwhile get to a clinic or ER and have them check it out. They will get X-rays done. Did you file any paper work at the school? You may have a compensatable injury although it could be too late to file.

As a general rule, anything that is getting worse after this period of time should be seen by a doctor, not presented to a bunch of yahoos who can't see you and don't know anything anyway. If you don't like your doctor, find another one!!! Good Luck!!

Well if it's that bad you should really see the doctor anyways...and if you *hate* your doctor, why not request a different one?
