How long does it take for the mother's DNA to combine with father's to form the baby's DNA ? Is it couple of seconds, minutes or days?

the egg of the mother has half of the DNA, and the spermatozoid of the father has the other half. so the baby's DNA forms as soon as the two halves come together. the DNA has the genetic information of how the baby is going to be; how tall or how thin, or what color are the eyes going to be. if the baby's DNA didn't combine or form as soon as they come together then there would be no baby.

This is a tricky question, as fertilization of an ovum (oocyte/egg cell) by a sperm cell occurs fairly rapidly (within seconds) but in order for a zygote (fertilized egg w/combined DNA inside one nucleus) to form, the two sets of DNA have to physically combine and then a new nucleus (pronucleus) has to be formed around the now diploid cell.
According to many studies, this takes anywhere from 14-18hrs.

Depends, if you have a good lover it can take hours, if you have an Australian bloke, more like seconds.
The baby's DNA is determined when the sperm nucleus enters the egg, which would be a matter of seconds, up to a minute or so - it only has about 40 micrometres to travel.

I would take it that the time after they had their sexual intercourse.
It should take about slightly less than 2 days although fertilization takes just a couple seconds or even less.
The sperm has to "swim" up to the ovum that is in the fallopian tube. (This is the only place where fertilization can take place) Although the journey may seem short for us, it is actually quite long for the sperm cells.
