My fiance recently moved to Puerto Rico (his birth place) and wants me to move there, too. I do not speak Spanish. I'm scared out of my mind and don't know what to do. He has a good job, but my family is here, my job, my friends, essentially the entire other part of my life that is not him.

All I hear is how beautiful it is, but crime ridden, bad schools, difficult to find a job and outrageously expensive. Is it really all bad like that?

Oh...to the person below: Puerto Ricans are American citizens, pretty much everything is the same there as it is here except they don't pay federal income tax and they speak spanish AND english for the most part. I've been there many times.

YOu have everything HERE! He should know everything is over here. You have family friends and job on this island so stay here. It will be hard but take a vacation there like 2 or 3 times a year and stay for 2 weeks

These Puerto Ricans that say they would move back, why don't they? what's they're answer. Why are they here. This is America Honey, the United States of America. I went through two tours in '68-''69 so you could do what you wanted to. If that's your choice then go. I saw 25K men that didn't come home for you sweetheart, so you could be free to choose.
You'd be going to a different County with different law, regulations, you'd better be real careful Honey, once there you don't have the protection anymore you once had here. These people that don't like it here, let them go, we don't need them, why are they here?

Well, your husband does not want to live in an english speaking country, he wants to be in his own country, speaking his language and with his people..seems normal to me.

You need to decide if you love him, if you do, thhen learning a second language will be easy.

Sometimes it's hard for us to be out of our comfort zone. If your fiancee can support you financially until you can find a job, I think you should go. Do what's best for you. You can feel it in your heart. Go with that gut feeling.
