Because they're stereotypical. If you're still getting insulted, dye your hair.

I studied this for one of my history classes once. There was once a time when babies were rare. And when someone had one it was a miracle. In a small town on the beach there was 3 babies born on the same day. And when they came out they were all dis-formed. The first ones spine was dis-formed. The second had only four toes. The third had rather large hands. The Doctor,who was not very civilized said he didn't think the babies would live and suggested that they should kill them. The parents of the 3 dis-formed children disagreed so they keep there babies.
The first baby lived 3 months and had a full head of hair and it was blond. The second lived only 1 month but had a few strands of dirty blond hair. The third lived to be 1 year old he had long blond hair . The town then declared that blond hair was a sign of danger. That rumor spread and then blonds were soon proceeded as stupid.

For the same reason that 'everyone' says goths are suicidal, jocks are promiscuous and chavs are violent.
All stereotypes emerge from somewhere - there must be some truth to the stereotype, or the stereotype wouldn't have been created in the first place. Blonde girls are, stereotypically, ditzy, shallow and giggly. All of these parameters lead to their 'stupid' appearance. This does not mean to say that ALL blondes fit the stereotype (or even the majority, half, or a quarter) but when you have characters such as Jade Goody on live TV epitomising such a stereotype, the myth is perpetuated.
People might 'think' you're stupid, so prove them otherwise.

I dont think all blonds are dumb, some are really smart, and its really what you aspire for, If you want to be smart educate yourself on what you dont know, or ask questions about things you dont know , dont speculate. I think there are some really dumb girls out there but its not cause there dumb they are just lazy, and dont pursure anything that would make them appear to have a brain, They dont better themselves, There are dumb every color hair girls, its just a saying that has stuck, like dumb polock, do you think every polish person is stupid, no, its a stearotype saying that has stuck, blondes have been said to get more attention from men, so maybe that is mens way of getting back at blondes because they are more outgoing?

no offense but have you talked to some other blondes? maybe stupid brunettes dye their hair blonde in an attempt to get guys based on looks. don't get me wrong, by best friend's a natural blonde and she's brilliant.

I don't do that, and many people don't.
However, many blondes play up the stereotype and act bubbly and ditzy, and give off the impresion they are stupid.
It's all a matter of opinion, but maybe you aren't called stupid because you are blonde. Maybe they are calling you that becuase they think you are stupid.

I think that it's because of people like Jessica Simpson, blonds are easy to impersonate and famous blondes act ditsy

People just started saying it.Then people who are blonds make blonds look liike that on purpose.One of my friends do. And they did make Illegaly Blond & the second movie so yeah.I don't really think that ,but that is me.

dont dye your hair! why change yourself for other people? if they dont like it, too bad for them. im a blonde as well. and im not stupid by any means. people are stereotypical, but hey isnt everyone in some way? just ignore it =)

i wish i knew the truth to that. i have the same problem. the truth is everyone has a stupid, airheaded side to them, and we can chooose to be like that if we want to. people just need to relize that maybe we all have a little idiot or "blonde" in us.

I think if you are worried about this you may be feeding the problem try to get a little more self esteem or mayb e dye your hair black - then people will think you are evil or a devil worshipper they will leave you alone if they think you will eat their flesh during a sacraficial offering.
