Paul Newman is still alive he's not dead!
Its a very good question, McQueen has more of the bad boy image whereas Newman was more the family down to earth man, I think that they are both good and its hard to separate the two as both have done really really good films.
However I think that McQueen just has the slight edge, as everyone remembers Bullet and the Great Escape
