My son is 10 months old and I still use baby wash/shampoo. I was wondering at what age do I start using adult or kids shampoo and soap on him? My sister in law uses regular soap on her 22 month old and it makes her skin really dry and wouldn't the adult shampoo burn a childs eyes?

You can use baby shampoo/wash until your son starts developing thicker hair. Then you can use a tearless one such as Suave or L'oreal for Kids. As for the regular soap; baby's skin is very sensitive and easily dried out I would still use baby wash or even a moisturizing soap. I have a 6 month old and my 7 year old is using his baby wash/shampoo in the shower even though she has her own. Its doesn't dry out her skin and she likes that it is tearless, but as for using it as a shampoo; older children's hair is too thick to use baby shampoo. If I use the baby wash/shampoo on my daughter's hair it is impossible to get out all the soap.

I still use "baby" shampoo on my 18 month old twins. But if we run out, I'll grab big brother's shampoo. You can switch whenever you feel like it. I wouldn't change to an adult shampoo, because you're right, it will sting his eyes. However, there are tons of "childrens" shampoo's that are tear free, and fine to use. As far as adult soaps goes, I still say it's your preferance. Just be careful that he's not rubbing his eyes when his arms and hands are all soaped up. Be sure to get something that won't dry him out though. We use Caress at my house. My older two, 3 and 7, use it, but my twins still use Johnson's head to toe wash.

I used baby shampoo on my kids until they were 4 or 5 years old. It is a gentle enough shampoo to use every day, plus, you are right---the adult shampoo burns kids eyes. At 5 years old, I let the kids wear swimming goggles while I washed their hair, so it wouldn't get in their eyes.

Use tear-free at the very least until they stop getting shampoo in their eyes (Age 9? 10? 50? --my husband still gets shampoo in his eyes EVERY TIME!)

There is no reason to ever use adult shampoo if they don't want to. In fact I still use that detangling spray they make for kids!

Most shampoos have an age on them so you know if it would be too harsh on the skin....but yes you can use baby wash forever if you want...I have never heard of a shampoo age limit!

You can use baby shampoo until they're several years old, even 6 years old. Nothing wrong with it at all. You're right about the stinging of the eyes....

Buy a big bottle of Johnson and Johnson's no tear shampoo and keep using it until she is off to college.
You can use it also and so can every one else of all ages in that house.
