Which is the correct word?

"Later on we'll" a) conspire, b) prespire, or c) aspire "as we dream by the fire".

I've heard all 3, but don't know which word is correct. Help please.

I always thought it was "conspire". But doesn't conspire mean to plan an evil deed?

Christmas songs are funny because the lyrics change depending on who's singing.

The actual lyric says, "Later on, we'll conspire..." The idea is that the couple in the song has just been "Married" by the "Parson Brown" in the meadow. They plan is to cuddle in front to the fireplace, possibly have some bubblely and...well...ya' know...sleep. That's all I can disclose because this IS a family show, but I'm sure you get the picture. After all, they do plan to "dream" by this fore mentioned fire.

Yes, the word "Conspire" doesn't necessarily mean to think of an evil plan, but at the time the song was written, sex was rather taboo in music. So, I think it's pretty much a play on words...but that's MY two cents.

In short, I guess all three CAN be correct, because if you and your spouse aspire to conspire by the fire, I'm sure you will eventually start to perspire!!!

I hope that answers your question...

It is Conspire. That word has gotten a bad reputation. A conspiracy is a plan between 2 or more people. It has a negative connotation because of spy language and military intent. It is not a bad word. I conspire all the time with the ones I love to make plans and surprises for others. Let us have a happy holiday and Merry Christmas to you. Nana

It is conspire.
To secretly plot or make plans together. And yes, it is usually bad. But the word rhymes with fire...
