Hard question. Traditions vary with country of origin, family history and tradition, and popular culture. Some families have recipes used only at Christmas dating back a hundred years or more.

"Traditional" covers a lot of territory. It could mean a family tradition, ethnic tradition, or regional tradition. I grew up in the south where it was traditional to have turkey/chicken and stuffing; turnip greens, ham. candied yams, cranberry, etc. I am sure that most areas of the United States have some variation on this theme. Also, it is a black tradition to have chitterlings. Hope this helps.
