Extremely painful, and I pushed for an hour straight, which was soooooooooo difficult. If the mother can't get it out by pushing after so long though and there starts to be problems (baby's heart rate lowers), that is when they would do emergency C-section. Some people push 2-3 times and baby is out (like my stepbrother's wife). Wish we were all that lucky.

The mom is able to push as long as she is able too, trust me she'll want to get that baby out. If she has problems, the ob will use a vacuum suction. It does hurt, yet mothers usually don't care once they look into their newborns eyes. It's the most pain I've been in ever in my life, yet I want to do it again soon ;)

Depends on the mom's fitness level. I've read giving birth is the equivilant of running 12 miles.

Yes, it hurts. It's very much worth it, but it does hurt, like all the muscles clenching up at once.

You're able to push until the job is done. Adrinaline kicks in, and instinct and its all down hill from there.

All you have to push out is the shoulders, the rest just slides right out.

Pushing is the shortest part of labor.
