i own a repair shop, and if you pull the light out ,the trouble code is going to be there and it will probably show up,on the test,,do this,,take it by auto zone ,and have them scan it,,its free, they can tell you if its a sensor,,just a simple sensor will make the light go on,,if that's all it is ,,you might want to consider replacing it ,then it will pass the test for sure,,,this is what id do,,then they wont question it ,,good luck with it,,hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.

Sometimes the wheel sensor will set a code even when its good. The reason? Brake dust!!! Brakes are made of metallic material, and this dust will build up so bad between the sensor and the reluctor, that it sees the wheel as stopped all the time, thus setting a code. Its a real simple fix to just remove the wheels, and clean away all that build up between the little wheel (reluctor) and the pick-up (sensor). As the wheel turns, the magnetic pick-up (sensor) generates pulses of electricty everytime one of the prongs on the (reluctor) wheel passes the magnet in the sensor. If it is clogged up with metal brake dust, it can't generated any electricity because it doesn't see anything passing, but has metal there all the time. The result is: the computer doesn't see a signal from the sensor, and sets a code because the computer thinks the wheel is not turning. The light will stay on. A quick way to test these sensors is to unplug the sensor, set a meter to read very low DC voltage in the milli-volt range, connect the meter to the two prongs on the sensor, spin the wheel and you should get a reading. If you don't, also try the very low side on the AC setting. I don't remember which it is but you will figure it out. 99% of the time, it is showing a bad sensor from the wheel when in fact the sensor is good, but won't generate a signal because the dust is caked up in there to where you can't even find the sensor. Check it out, and you will see what I mean. Also, If you have a reading, and still get a code, check the wire all the way back to the computer with a test light, but only after you have un-plugged the harness from the computer.
Glad I could help you, Good Luck!!!

fails what inspection ?? The abs is for brakes the obd2 is emission control. In some vehicles the obd2 may use the abs wheel sensors for a vehicle speed sensor but it should show up as a fault at the check engine lite. Any smog techs out there.

Make sure that all checks that are done include an oil pressure test, compression check and scan test for HISTORY codes. This will tell you the reliability and strength of the motor now, and what kind of issues that the vehicle has now or has had in the past as far as the engine. Good idea having it thoroughly inspected. Good luck.

You have OBD 2 for a computer system, therefore even if you put out the lamp, the inspectors computer may detect the fault. Also there is the possibility that you might trigger a service engine soon lamp if you did remove the bulb or tamper with it.

You probably don't need a complete brake system on the front you have a loom of wires should be 2-3 wires in it goes from the spindle area up into your inner fenders. Follow thoughs wires and see if you have a cut or slice in any of the wires on either side.

THE SIMPLEST WAY TO TURN THE LIGHT OFF IS TO PULL THE BULB FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL...DON'T TAKE IT TO AUTO-ZONE TO BE TESTED...THEY CAN PULL THE CODE FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS BUT THEY DON'T DO ABS...I WOULD RECOMMEND HAVING A SHOP THAT YOU TRUST PUT YOUR CAR ON A LAB SCOPE TO FIND AND FIX PROBLEM, BUT YOUR QUESTION WAS WHAT'S THE EASIEST WAY TO TURN THAT DAMN LIGHT OFF AND THAT'S THE EASIEST WAY.

you probably just have a bad wheel sensor. Just get into the dash and pull the bulb out of the socket.
