Are you sure it's a virus? There are a lot of things that can cause problems with your PC that aren't viruses. Spyware is a real problem and can cause the PC to slow down, lock up, and send spam over your Internet connection. It's far more likely than a virus.

I'd recommend downloading Ad-Aware SE Personal from http://www.lavasoft.com (it's free), updating it, and then running it. After that, download Spybot 1.4 from http://www.safer-networking.org (it's free), updating it, and then running it. These should find and remove the vast majority of spyware on your PC and also detect a few viruses should you have them.

I would recommend buying and using McAfee VirusScan as it's a far better and more complete anti-virus program than the free ones. AVG and Avast may work to some degree, but not as well. Norton is a pain and costs too much to renew every year; however, they do have free utilities that can be downloaded and run that are very helpful if you know the virus that's infecting your PC. McAfee has Stinger for free, but that's not a very good tool on the whole.

i've got had maximum of them. there is not any such element as a sturdy unfastened utility. You commerce off, with attachments swarming on your laptop and slowing you down. Like basically till now I got here to this question, a pop up activating. I even have AVG. even nonetheless that is unfastened, precise. The trackers are basically like having a stupid virus....clogs you up and slows you down. I even have Comcast cable and McAfee got here unfastened with the provider, yet whilst i wanted help, i became reminded via the out sourcing guy "Rick" that it became unfastened! They instructed me that if I even have an epidemic that it became till now I had McAfee? And that it became unfastened and could no longer help me. I bumped off the unfastened crap from my laptop. Norton sucked for me, I had a splash guy dancing throughout my reveal till now my laptop crashed. i've got heard of Avast, i've got not been there yet. Spybot, super Antivirus, spyware 2008, been there carried out that. I typed into Yahoo ask a query a pair of week in the past and somebody pronounced that they use a go of spyware 2008 and Avg. i became instructed via Microsoft that all and sundry virus courses, won't have the skill to locate and canopy all viruses. which you're able to commerce. however the difficulty with this is, they cancel out one yet another now and returned. which potential, they think of the different is an epidemic and hinders the different from working appropriate. So uninstall them, then positioned them returned in precise away. do no longer flow onto the internet unprotected ever.
