you should try eating meat and foods that contain iron instead of the vitamins cause they already consist of iron in the supplement.

Yes you can if your iron is low. But check with your doctor first on how much Iron to take since you are already on prenatals and may already have some iron in it. So check with the doc on the amount of Iron to take so you don't overdose on it.
Also, increase your meat intake (the darker the more iron.) Spinach is also loaded with Iron.
Don't drink milk when taking iron or eating an iron rich food, since milk absorbs iron and prevents the body from absorbing it. (you can still drink milk, just not when you are consuming iron)

The drs told me it was crucial that i take an iron supplement. I took ones called Ferro sequells. They work well but keep in mind that iron is a binder so you want to make sure you also eat non binding foods or else you may become extreamly constipated. My iron was dangerously low when i was preggo but that was because the site of meat made me ill and i wouldnt even be in the house when my husband was cooking it. GOOD luck with your pregnancy!!!

I had to take an extra iron supplement in addition to the prenatal, but my doctor told me to take this. I had to take it with some juice, the vitamin C helps the body absorb it better. I was anemic before pregnancy, and it just got worse.

You can take extra iron with your prenatals. Just have your OB get you a script. Because it can be very dangerous if you take to much iron and can cause health problems for you and your unborn child.
Congrats by the way!!!

Your prenatal vitamins should already have around 160% of your daily value of iron for pregnant woman in it. The doctor can also prescribe ones with more if needed!

Prenatal vitamins have iron in them. If you are iron deficient taking a additional low dosage is usually okay but I would only take it if you have confirmed Anemia and your OBGYN has told you to. (iron is not something to mess with pregnant or not)

My son is 11 weeks old and while I was pregnant my ob/gyn told me to take iron supplements because my iron was low and it is important for you and your baby to get enough iron and vitamins.

My doctor told me I had to take them in addition to my prenatals. If you are really coming up anemic (low iron) then your doctor will probably mention it and you should ask about taking them. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

You need to take iron if it's low, especially if your pregnant! Your doctor will tell you the same thing!
