I think I'm becoming a sociopath, I can no longer feel empathy anymore. I mimic other peoples behavior, I charm people and I get people. Although I still sometimes retain my morals, I don't exploit people or do overtly destructive things. Although I do drink, and smoke, I feel those self destructive things are aiding to my detachment from my emotions. I don't know what to do, all my hobbies are ....... not interesting anymore.

Have you thought about seeing a therapist? You can ask a bunch of amateurs to poke around at your brain from what you put into a Yahoo Answers Question, but the normal response for someone that is concerned about such things is to have it professionally evaluated. If you don't care that you may be a sociopath, then you probably really are a sociopath and you aren't concerned so you won't do anything. Anyway, best of luck to you with whichever way you go.

Ever think you are just depressed like many of us.

Think you are on the way to sociopathy or psychopathis but you are not there yet. Wait until you become addicted to drugs, violent acts, sex, money etc then you will have made it.

EXCEPT you still have A conscience or you wouldn't be asking this question.

Following the path you presented, you will have no friends except others of like behavior (they are not really friends just using you), your family and friends will be hurt incredibly and abandon you. Prison will be your resort of choice. Have fun there.

Every day we have many choices to make. All choices can be right or wrong, good or evil. They are your choices to make. Excuse my cynicism but Christmas is only 2 days away. Try making someone happy. It feels good.

Good luck. Please seek some help. Holiday times have always been very depresing times for me and others. And think, you will never experience the joy of having a family, success, loving someone, loving a pet, volunteering for something to do good, expressing your feelings thru art music or just growing a garden and on and on.

A true sociopath/psychopath would never write such a letter, as you have been told. By writing such a letter, you would not even be eligible for the " psychopathic check list ", a catch 22, you probably did not know about. Try some other psychopathology.

On the path to enlightenment. All life is suffering. Look into the eight noble truths. May help. Empathy is not necessary to live a good life or a moral one. The fact that you know that you have no empathy will aide in how you treat people....

You don't become a sociopath, you either are one or your not. You can't wake up one day and say hey I think I'll be a sociopath! Just asking this question proves you are not a sociopath..

Sounds like you are just full of ****, and are just looking for attention.

Forget it. You've already debated the issue so long the boat has left you on the dock. True sociopaths don't even think about these concepts.

You don't just become a sociopath. You're born with this enigma and you have to learn to recognize it and control it.
