I would say poverty can be a result of oppression, versus an interchangeable name for it.

There many causes of poverty, not just oppression.....and there are oppressed people who are not poor.

No. Poverty means "I can't stop spending." I see people all day who buy groceries with food stamps but have salon quality nails and hair and the latest in cell phones with a whole bunch of accessories.

No, it's usually another name for laziness and/or stupiditiy. Liberals like to whine about poverty, but obesity is really more of an epidemic today.
