Unfortunately this is what seems to be the norm in dancing and cheerleading. It is extremely unhealthy for them to do this. Are you competitive or just do it for fun? If it's for fun I think your parents should definitely have a talk with her!

You'd be surprised how common this is. Common or not, it is still wrong. I know that must have hurt your feelings, and I am sorry.
Are you taking ballet? Weight is a MAJOR issue girls have in ballet, and when teachers call them fat, 90% of the time it is not to be mean, it is to make them a better dancer.
That being said, I still think no teacher should call you fat without good reasoning. Tell your parents and find a different teacher.

that happened to me to. They called me fat scene I was 8, but it never bothered me because I'm ok with being the size I am. Last year they told me mid-year it was my last year and I wouldn't be asked back because they didn't like my pointe work. I'm not saying that will happen to you cause I went to a really anal dance school. But I found a new studio, I like it alot. It's not as good as my old one, but I fit in well. I really miss my friends from my old studio. I used to cry every time someone called me fat, or every time I thought about my old studio kicking me out. But I've accepted that and moved, even though I don't think it's fair or justified, I wasn't the worst one in the class, just the biggest. but I've moved on and it's made me stronger. It's good that you don't think your fat, keep thinking like that. If the really have a problem with your weight have your parents talk to them. There is no suck thing as being fat. Hope I helped.

first of all tell your parents, hopefully they would then go and talk to your dance teacher. dancers are supposed to have "perfect" figures, but really not many do. i love dance and do it all the time and i'm probably not as fit as i could be. just try to forget what she said but if you are concerned than maybe you can cut-back a little bit. especially for this time of year with the holidays its hard for dancers to stay really fit so just remember that you can eat whatever you want, just in moderate sizes. hope this helps and happy holidays =)

I would find another dance teacher as unless you are going to go all the way and dance with one of the top ballet companies, then your size should not matter. Just so long as you do the steps and are fit that is all that should matter. I have seen some of the girls who are going to go on and dance professionally and the lengths they will go to, to be like a stick of spaghetti and they cannot be truly happy with the way they are. One girl shocked me when I was helping my daughter to change costume as she herself was getting changed and she had no breasts at all just bone. She looked sick. And there was her dance pushy mother with her 10 different costumes all individually designed sewing her precious into her dance shoes. The competition they were at was for choreography the student had done themselves and there was the girls dance teacher going through the dance she was to do with her. 'Don't forget this move' and 'remember to raise your leg in the turn' Dance can be a vicious world and your dance teacher should not be making comments on your size as she is there to teach you to dance and not to judge you.

I'd say tell her how it made you feel and ask her not to do it again. Or tell your parents and ask them to do it for you. This is not right to call their students fat, especially in a personal way. It's not so bad if teacher says "you're all getting too fat, I'll make you exersise", but when she personally calls you fat this is just uncalled for.

what is your height and weight?
if your concerned excersise more often, cut out sodas and fatty snacks, and drink lots of water!!!
she probaly called you that (though, that's a bit harsh) because she was concerned that your wieght would be in the way of your dancing...or she's just plain mean. talk to your parents about it and maybe you can switch to a new dance teacher (i hate my dance teacher so after christmas i'm switching to another local dance studio) if that's possible.
don't pay attention to insults like that. love your self for you. and keep on dancing!!!!!!
