I'm 13 and I want to change my name to Freya... but I dunno how. Does it cost money? How do I change it? Am I too young for ME to chose? Would my parents have to chose or agree?

In the US you must be at least 18..cost about $200. You will need to go to court and have a valid reason to change your name..they won't just change it because you want it changed..

Why do you want to change your name to Freya?

Here is a little information about Freya - In Norse mythology, Freya is a goddess of love and fertility, and the most beautiful and propitious of the goddesses. She is the patron goddess of crops and birth, the symbol of sensuality and was called upon in matters of love. She loves music, spring and flowers, and is particularly fond of the elves (fairies). Freya is one of the foremost goddesses of the Vanir.

Meanwhile, names can be changed in two ways:

Pick a new name and consistently use it. This is called"common usage."

Go through a more formal court process. At age 13, you will need your parents consent in most states.

Not sure where you're from but in the UK you can do it by Deed Poll...online...and as long as you're 18+ you don't need permission. It costs about £37 and it's all legal. Otherwise, you can just have a "name by usage" which you do by just calling yourself that.

Many people go by a nick name or their middle name. It can't be all that bad. Just ask your friends to start referring to as your new chosen name.
