I was never a "Star." But I worked with quite a few back in the 1970s. Yes, we could all read music. As a good studio musician, you'd better be able to follow a fly crossing your staff.

Some can and are actually educated in music. The other lucky ones, who got famous by luck, most probably cannot read sheet music, or even words.

a lot of musicians use waht are called lead sheets. For the most part it is reading music but some of it is dumbed down.

yes.

because reading tabs are way to easy, and its more of a miinitured version of music sheets, and they most likely hav to write their own music sheets, therefore they will need to learn how to read it thereselves.

my guess would be yes. hard to play music without the music to play ;-)
