I need a bit of advise, on how to become a secondary school Maths teacher.
I've got a BSc (but not honours), in Maths. So what now?
Do you need honours to get into teacher training?
Also, I left uni about 3 years ago, do you think that will make a difference?
Any advise would be great :)

You are in luck - maths is a shortage subject. Non maths graduates can do a 2 year PGCE course to prepare them for teaching maths so although you should have a 2:1 the fact your degree is in maths should make up for that.

have a look at the graduate teacher training web site or sign up as an unqualified teacher with an agency.

I think you need honours, and then you can either do a PGCE or go on the Graduate Teaching Programme (GTP). On the GTP you work in a school and they train you 'on the job'. Or....you could try and get a job in a private school- you wont need honours or a PGCE to work in one.

You'll need some education courses. Check with the personnel director of a high school in your area or with the education department of the nearest university or college that has an education deparment for details.

Contact your local School Of Education, they'll tell you which course suits you best according to your present qualifications. pedagogy is a big thing and you don't want to throw yourself at the deep end without training, believe me!

If you're a woman, perhaps you could do the headmaster a couple of favours?
