When it is between consenting adults I have no problem with it. Unfortunately this is rarely the case. Polygamist cults often indoctrinate young girls at a very tender age and force them to marry fathers/cousins/etc and offer them no choice in the arranagement.

Theoretically, there is no problem. If several ADULTS, there shouldn't be a problem. However, since we are all humans, it's just like the idea of communism being the perfect form of society.------------- it looks good on paper, but put into practice, is just unrealistic. Humans are dominated, or controlled to a certain degree, by their emotions, one of those being jealousy. Since Sex is one of the main driving forces in human beings, a polygamous environment would not only promote this type of jealousy (with Sex as it's root), but also create emotional conflicts between the participants, which have implications of their own. Furthermore, even if they are all consenting adults, there is the possibility of this type of relationship being the result of disillusionment/mistaken ideals, which led to the initial consent . . . all in all, it's just not realistic.

IF you like 20 wives and 60 children and you marry the mothers and the sisters take you daughters out at 16 to celebrate their birthday and on the way home you pull over and have sex with them to show them what it is all about, then move to Utah.be a polygamist , do you really think you could keep up with all those women having sex with each one every night and plus your sister is your brother and your brother is your daughters husband. Hell, pretty soon you become your on grand paw. Go live it up.

There is nothing "wrong" with anything. The paradigm of right and wrong shifts from person to person. How does Polygamy evolve you as a person? That's the quesion.

It's probably considered too patriarchial for "modern" society (assuming we are talking one man here). It seems somewhat off-kilter when we try to emphasize the ideal of having both genders contributing equally, not to mention that it is a kick in the teeth to the christian fundamentalism that everyone seems to love hanging onto.

Most men can't even handle 1 wife how do you expect them to handle more?
But, yes it is wrong, and I am LDS. And if people think the LDS church allows it they are wrong. They will excommunicate someone for polygomy.

Legally in the U.S. where we have freedom of religion? No.
In Christian belief? Yes.
For cults that force women into bondage of polygamous marriages, and marry young kids to old men and threaten those who don't go along? Absolutely! This is becoming very common in areas of the U.S. and is downright criminal.

No. I would never go for that but if some one else wants to that is their business. I don't understand why they won't let gays get married---isn't that discrimination?
