Oh Boy.
Look this would take a book to explain, but this is a failed attempt to do it in a few bullet points.
Mages. Practicers of what you call magic can be both sexes
What you know as magic is what we refer to today as technology, It's just that the way these particular technologies work has been lost or hidden for a long time.
As we rediscover old (and invent new) technology we now practice what our ancestors would deem magic everyday.
Example: Seen lord of the rings? One of the most powerful magical aids was the ability to see and hear over vast distances. well we now have videophones.
Some still have access to old 'magical' technologies.
These are the Mages.
Witches, are really creations of the Christian church, in order to win hearts and minds of those it sought to dominate the early church started to persecute the matriarchal figures in the villages of old Europe.
As paganism was a maternal religion (worship of the earth mother) the persecution of women for at first having links to the old religion (paganism). Then for a variety of concocted reasons, it thought a valuable lesson, if your villages matriarch could not protect you from the wrath of god, then how was old earth mother supposed to. Adapt or die.
So soon witch hunting became a fad and a lot of superstitious rubbish was added.
White magic, black magic, trucking with demons and so on.
Don't know if this helps.
What you call magic is real, no black or white magic, just technologies which allow us to perform what you would call miracles.
Now try to access it.

I believe that witches are real. I believe that there are some things in the world in which we do not know the answers to. This is one of them. I believe that there are some people who have magic powers but then again there are some fakes too.

Witches do exist to some extent - there are "white witches", mostly women who practise magic from old paganistic rituals. These particular women harvest (supposedly) good energy and help people with health, wealth, happiness and love. They feel at one with nature. I do believe in some natural therapies that these women have - because some of them are also used in naturopathy (but in smaller amounts).
At the other end of the spectrum there are the bad ones - these ones try to twist magic to suit their own selfish needs for their own personal reasons.
I dont believe in the old wivestale ones of witches with big crooked noses, broomsticks and big fat cauldrons. I think those tales were created to scare people away from witches to begin with.

Those who 'try' to be witches don't have any power. There are some born with power though, dear. They don't fly on broomsticks and they don't eat little children, so never fear. Those who follow the right hand path are following the forerunners of the medical profession. Where would we be without them? Why are you afraid of witches? Is it because a fraud told you they put a 'spell' on you?

I use to be Wicca, but I had too many problems with the craft, so I got covered in the blood. I had a friend who levitated a car and it came over to him and fell on him, killing him. I was having some problems with demons in Panama, in my house. Both my housekeeper and I could not get rid of them. I tried a protection spell and she tried voodoo, both did not work. I cursed someone and as the saying goes, if a person is not worthy of the curs, it comes back to the witch, threefold. So now I am cursed, still to this day. I believe Christians when they say that the magic is of Satan and not from nature, as a Wiccan would have you believe.

I don't know. I have yet to see it demonstrated. However, I think "real power" is kind of vague. I guess I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Yes, Virginia, there are witches.
Thoughts are things, too. When you understand how to direct your thoughts these can have effect in the material world.
