It happens when I boot up. After the windows xp logo with the screen will turn blue (aka the blue screen of death) but then it will only work if I boot into safe mode then restart into regular. I have no idea how this could keep happening even after I reformatted could it be a hardware failure? Thanks a lot for anyone who helps me.

LOL blue screen of death. Luckily you narrowed down the problem to a virus. Its probably currupted the boot files which in some machines are stored on a partition make sure that the whole drive is formated and then flash your bios. You can get the bios or an update of it from the manufacturers web site. Let me know if everything went well after the bios update.

If antivirus and spyware remover software does not work, you can try to restore the computer to an older working configuration. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html

Sounds like scumware has messed up your registry. Try a few antispyware programs. And a good registry cleaner.

Is the virus checker current? Updated, oh, I don't know, YESTERDAY??
