Funny you should ask. I have never had that feeling until just recently. My 25 year marriage is in the crapper. I have a husband who cares more about his life away from the family than his life with us and I am raising 2 grandchildren. they are 2 and 3 years old and the youngest was born 2 months premature so she has some issues. So now I feel empty and alone all the time and am at a loss as to what to do about it. I have never felt this way around the holidays in my life. Now I don't even want to participate at all.,

Captain, abstain a bit from that bottle, and your emptiness will replenish itself ;-)
Seriously, it's often got something to do with the substances that gurgle down the ol' larynx. I know this sounds odd, but many disagreeable states of mind come from faulty nutrition. Have an apple, cut out caffeine and alcohol for today, and see if you feel any better tomorrow. If you do, you've got your solution.
Try it, you have nothing to lose, on the contrary, you'll save on stuff.

Usually the emptiness is a reflection of what you want changed. In view of your icon "Captain Morgan" don't ever think your problems with diminish with each drink. Take a long look at yourself, then look back to what has got you to that state, then make your mind up to move forward.

Emptiness can be a good thing. It means you have the opportunity to fill yourself with whatever you want. Choose something positive, loving and hopeful and see what happens! :-)

When I start to feel the "blues" I do something to get my mind off me.
I read books, or go for a walk, or clean the house, or prepare some fantastic dinner, or exercise.

Benjamin Franklin said the best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer someone else up.

It actually works, every time, believe it or not.
