On a fast attack you will be at sea most of the time, but you will visit some foreign ports. If you are an a SSBN then you will only be at sea part of the year, but you won't see as many ports. I was on the SSN676 USS Billfish.

Congrats on your graduation from Boot Camp. My ex was a submariner for 10 years. You will have limited options for duty stations after subschool. Try for Hawaii, that's the best! San Diego 2nd, Kings Bay, Georgia 3rd.

I know it can be pretty rough living on the sub. But, there is a lot of commradarie and fun as well. And you go out to sea A LOT. Everything is in VERY close quarters. But, the food is real good. You will be pulling 24 hour duty every few days.

As a submariner, you will find that there is nothing more unique and respected. I served on the Augusta (SSN 710) up until '03. It had its good times and some bad.

Subscol is pretty easy (depends on the person, too). They cover firefighting, flooding, etc.. situations that are unique to only submarines. The training is fun and pretty normal to the format in boot camp.

Just study hard and remember that even once you finish sub school, you'll never really be done studying. You have to keep studying once you get to the sub. Even the older, more senior sailors have to study to get qualified for higher level watch stations.

sadly, i never served. but my cousin is currently on a boat in the gulf, and he says he wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world. says it can get a little stressful, but that comes with any job.
